Hayward-based Nemat Management Group is moving into its new manufacturing plant on 10 acres at 19225 Road 24 in Madera. The manufacturing plant creates high-precision machining services through Computer Numeric Control devices with dimensions measured to the specifications of its customers. Read more.

One of Madera County’s biggest planned unit developments gained approval from the Board of Supervisors. The development agreement for the 1,648-acre Tesoro Viejo project was okayed 4-1. On buildout, it would include as many as 5,100 homes and 3 million square feet of commercial and retail space. The land is east of state Route 41 between avenues 13 and 15, with frontage on the San Joaquin River. Read More

Recession in the Fresno area is expected to fade out in the third quarter of 2010, prompting an economic rebound led by the trade, transportation, utilities, financial activities, professional and business services sectors, according to a new economic forecast. Read more.

California Association of Realtors- May sales and price reportbuilding under construction

The median price of an existing, single-family detached home in California during May 2009 was $267,570, a 30.4 percent decrease from the revised $384,540 median for May 2008, C.A.R. reported. The May 2009 median price rose 4.2 percent compared with April’s $256,700 median price.

“The statewide median price rose for the third consecutive month in May, posting the largest monthly increase on record for the month of May, according to statistics dating back to 1979,” said C.A.R. Chief Economist Leslie Appleton-Young. “Nearly all regions in the state reported positive month-to-month changes in median price. For the full report click here

Manufacturing index up to 42.8 in May

The decline in U.S. manufacturing slowed in May, a trade group reported and the sector is faring better than analysts had expected alongside similar reports from Asia and Europe. The Tempe, Ariz.- based Institute for Supply Management said its index on manufacturing came in at 42.8- its highest level since September-compared with 40.1 in March. A reading below 50 still indicates contraction, but the measure has been shrinking more slowly every month since December. Read more.

Has the recession ended?

  • Credit Managers say maybe
  • “The recession essentially came to an end in February and March”

The worst recession since the Great Depression may have bottomed out, according to research by the National Association of Credit Management. The organization says its research first detected some upward movement in the economy in February and now has carried forward those gains for four straight months. “ The recession essentially came to an end in February and March of 2009,” says Chris Kuehl, NACM economist. SBA will begin accepting loans for a temporary new program called America’s Recovery Capital (ARC). ARC loans of up to $35,000 are designed to provide a “bridge” for viable small businesses with immediate financial hardship-to keep their doors open until they get back on track.
