STATE NEWS

Central Valley a region of great contrast
The Sacramento Bee

Were California’s 500 mile long Central Valley a separate state, it would be the nation’s most productive agricultural state, but its per capita personal income would be the nation’s third lowest, according to the latest assessment of the region by the Modesto-based Great Valley Center. “In 2007, the per capita income of the Central Valley was $29,790, 29 percent below the state average of $41,805,” says the report. To put this in perspective, if the Central Valley was to be taken as an individual state, it would rank 48th in the nation in per capita income.” To read the full report click here.
