Madera Co. crop value grows to record $1.3 billion
County is No. 1 grower of figs in the nation.

FigsA growing demand for pistachios, figs, and grapes helped push Madera County’s total crop value to a record $1.3 billion last year. A switch to higher-value crops is helping to drive up Madera County’s production values, agriculture industry leaders say. Crops values rose 7.5% over the previous year, according to the county’s 2008 crop report. Read more.

Native brings music video shoot to Chowchilla
The Business Journal

Local tTalentPart of Brooks and Dunn music video “Indian Summer” was shot at Chowchilla High School’s football stadium. The sequence featured football players from rivals Dos Palos and Chowchilla lining up at the line of scrimmage during a game with Chowchilla’s quarterback running it in for a 20-yard touchdown. Country stars Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn filmed their parts in Tennessee, but the football game scene was filmed in Chowchilla at the behest of director Shaun Silva, a native of Chowchilla. His father owns Bob Silva Ford. Read more.

The realignment of Constellation’s distributor network consolidates over half of its U.S. wine and spirits business to one distributor per market, creating a number of benefits for Constellation, its distributors and its customers. The fundamentally different distribution model is structured to improve organic growth through deeper, highly-aligned distributor relationships, fully dedicated distributor team and divisions focusing exclusively on Constellation’s portfolio and priorities and improved coordination of marketing promotional programs that support the brands. In addition, Constellation and its distributors will be able to offer Constellation’s full, powerful brand portfolio through a single distributor to retailers in the 19 markets. Read more.
